Sue Staniforth challenges a visitor to match the photo to the specimen
Friends of Shoal Harbour were kindly invited to display their wares at the March 24, 2016 Birds of Prey event at the Swan Lake/Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary. Sue Staniforth and Farrell Boyce gathered up laptop, maps and brochures and were given a table in the conference room of the beautiful Nature House. Compared with the displays of other invitees, our table appeared rather bare so the kind staffers at Nature House found us some stuffed ducks, mummified feet, and duck photos. We came up with a challenge to our(mostly young) visitors: identify the specimen or photo “belonging” to the foot they had selected. Several times we were obliged to reassure visitors that the feet were recuperated from ducks that had died peacefully from old age (although we, too did wonder a bit).

Visitors ponder which foot belongs to whom.
In the mid-room open space other visitors were engaged in jolly games of Bird Bingo.

Bird Bingo in full flight.
We were too busy to take in the main event, the display of live birds of prey, but we were very happy to be part of this cheerful and informative scene and we hope we get asked back.
Rick Searle and his nephew, Finn, FOSH supporters, were our able accomplices. Thanks, guys!
Wonderful event!
