A Thank-You from Alex MacDonald of Nature Canada

FOSH members were delighted to have the support and presence of Alex MacDonald from Nature Canada during our recent events celebrating the return of the Bufflehead Duck and launching Naturehood.  When Alex returned to Ottawa, he sent a “shout out” to FOSH and the ever-punctual Bufflehead.  From Alex:

This past Thursday, our friends in Sidney BC celebrated their annual All Buffleheads Day so it is timely to feature the Bufflehead in this week’s Tweet of the Week!

The All Buffleheads Day is held annually on October 15th  and these birds are very punctual in attending it. They arrive in the waters just off the Vancouver Island almost precisely on this day every year as part of their winter migration. Find out why this occurs in this week’s segment!

Each week we introduce a new bird from the Ottawa-Gatineau area through our segment on CBC Radio’s In Town and Out. Alex MacDonald, Nature Canada’s Manager of Protected Areas, shares interesting facts about the birds that live in our communities. Be sure to tune-in to “Bird Tweet of the Week” on CBC Radio One 91.5 FM on Saturday mornings from 6am to 9am and listen to past episodes on our website.

This episode aired on Saturday, October 17th, 2015.
